Keith Barlow,
Coaching and Mentoring

A senior executive with over 30 years’ experience of operating at board and general management level in a variety of European and UK executive and non-executive roles.

On gaining an MA in Marketing from Lancaster Business School in 1983, Keith started his management career in the health and beauty sector. Within five years, he progressed from minor roles in small operations to the position of Marketing Group Manager at Wella Haircare.

Switching market sectors in 1990, he moved into the packaging industry and held various senior posts. The first was as a Sales Manager of the Specialties Division of Carnaudmetalbox (CMB). In 1992 Keith was promoted to Managing Director of CMB Stockbox Holland and achieved his brief to turn the ailing operation from loss to profit within nine months. He moved on from CMB to be the Sales and Marketing Director of an SME packaging component operation. It was here that Keith built profitably by securing the company’s largest customer account – Proctor and Gamble.

In 1995 there followed five years of interim management assignments in several different businesses and further education study. During this period Keith successfully completed a Post Graduate Certificate in Education which enhanced his abilities to advise his interim clients on the most effective sales and marketing training required to meet corporate objectives.

In 2000 he transplanted his educational experience and business to business sales and marketing skills to become a Training Advisor and latterly a Regional Director for an internationally renowned professional membership body, the Chartered Institute of Marketing. Keith produced and delivered training for SMEs, recommended “best fit” professional development programmes for world class multinationals which included Asda, Office Depot and Savola. Towards the end of 2013 Keith returned to interim management and successfully completed projects in the mobile telecoms and charity sectors.

All through his career Keith has been committed to building effective relationships with a wide range of internal and external stakeholders. Achieving success by engaging with people to attain outstanding outcomes is how he supports companies to reinvigorate teams to deliver distinction. Keith supplies first class practical commercial solutions. His professional and personal integrity, commitment to quality and hands-on style allow him to deliver measurable results.

His experience spans the private, public and voluntary markets. In parallel with his business career, Keith has held several third sector positions. He was a past audit committee member of Salford City College and retained the Presidency of Hugh Stewart Hall Alumni (Nottingham University) for nearly seven years. Currently Keith is a board trustee of a charity providing respite care for families with disabled dependants.
